    Bryston VS. Mac. #2

First of all, thanks to everyone who replied for they're time & knowledge. On bridging,I've heard so many conflicting opinions.A Bryston dealer told me bridging would give me a clearer sound. An Adcom dealer said if I bridged,I'd lose some midrange & the sound would'nt be as clear. Also,I was told when you bridge it's like turning a 8 ohm spkr. into a 4 ohm spkr.As far as getting K-horns,I've allready turned my Corns. into Cornscalas(B.Crites components) & I have a Tekton 21" sub. powered by an Adcom 555ll bridged(600 WPC).Seeing I have the same components as the K-horn,I thought the only diff. between mine & the K-horns was the size of the cab.(or bin).I was told the size of the bin or cab. was the bass,so if I allready have a sub. the size & pwr. that I do,what diff. wuold switching to K-horns make?Lastly,If it turns out I get feedback explaining the diff. of the K-horns & it's worth changing, would getting the K-horn plans & just exchange the components(maybe having to modify the crossovers) be just as good? Thanks again to everyone. You definatly have a special forum here w/ special people!Tim3.

I have a little yellow button for the Adcom dealer.

I am not sure why I should bother for a second time...

On your original thread, several folks gave you some very good advice. Please re-read and understand those comments.

    Very quickly,

    1) you are using efficient speakers that do not present a low impedance to the amplifier - so set the system up accordingly

    2) there is no need to bridge the amps

    3) it is very, very unlikely that bridging (especially in this case) would make the signal "clearer"

    4) The components on the Cornwall are similar but not exact to those of the K-Horn. Do not go down that path.

    5) One big difference is that the bass bin on the K-Horn is horn loaded. That is not the case on the Cornwall. The consequence is the bass will sound quite different.

    6) building a K-Horn is not trivial. There would be a number of opportunities to make a mistake.
