Hello,
1. I'm a fan of Klipsch products, in fact, I just
purchased the iGroove HG for my parents a couple of weeks ago... and
have been shopping for a 5.1 home theater system to compliment my
new Samsung LCD tv (so far I've heard the Quintet III/sub10 and KEF's
3005, but haven't been able to locate any retail stores that have any
of the Cinema 6, 8 or 10's or similar products in Orange County So.
Cal.
Q-1...........................Any suggestions??
2. I
just purchased a control pod replacement a few months ago (sounds
like I got lucky and was able to have ordered at the right time...) and
just began to enjoy my ProMedia 2.1 once again after more than a year
of silence. Now that I think of it, this was probably the trigger
(besides the new TV) that sent me on this shopping
mission. Unfortunately, my new DIN plug fell apart in the
same fashion as the original, after only a week of use. I
understand that this plug has been through some testing which have
demonstated no faults by one of your posts, but here's my two-cents on
a possible cause and solution.
------------------------Besides
the obvious need for a recessed space for the current DIN to rest
without being pushed or bumped, perhaps instead, an L-shaped DIN
plug with a larger area, say 1x1inch square or 1inch diameter
round, to act as a stopper to prevent stress being placed at the
junction where the metal and plastic/rubber parts of the plug join (and
consequently, become separated). Material that is more resistant
to the amplifier's heat may be another need. I think the plug
tips are possibly becoming softened by the amp's heat, making them more
susceptible to the subtle bumps and movements from normal wear and
tear. Maybe, some the tests done on the plug were done without the heat
of the amp being a factor. Just an idea. I don't like to
complain about the need for change without contributing toward possible
solutions.
Q-2........................Can you inform me/clarify on how to
obtain a replacement and if I need to send the damaged product
back?....I would like to try and repair the plug while waiting for the
product to become available, but do not want the fault to be shifted
from workmanship being unable to withstand normal wear and
tear-------> to customer mutilation of DIN plug/cable by self
repair....since a repaired cable would be less likely to sound as clean
as the factory version, despite using good technique.
I am
fairly new to this forum, but have seen the DIN diagram, and some
postings by customers that were having trouble obtaining another
control pod/cable and you have probably already answered this
somewhere.
