We recently purchased the following package: Set of Quintet III speakers(4 satallites and 1 center) along with the 10' sub for $605.00.  With the package, we got the Yamaha 500W 5.1-channel RX-V461BL receiver for an additional $249.00.  Is this a good package or are there alternate Klipsch speakers that would be a better bang for the buck?  We will be using them for for both music and movies.  Second question - will this receiver be sufficient for these speakers or should we step up to a different receiver?  We have a feeling they threw in this receiver to keep the price down but we want to make sure we are getting the most out of the speakers.

We would also like any advise people have to offer on the wiring we should be using.

For an inexpensive small setup, that is an excellent package.  That Yamaha RX-V461 should be plenty good enough for those Quintets, not only that, it has some pretty nifty features, such as iPod docking capabilities, XM capability and so forth.  With the addition of any decent DVD player that can be had pretty cheaply (I'll assume you already have a DVD player), that setup will easily blow away any of the Bose Lifestyle setups and you paid but maybe a third of the cost of a typical Bose setup.  I've listened to the Quintets myself on numerous occasions more as a curiosity as well as just to see what they can do (no way in hell it'll replace my RF-7s and B&K gear, though).  Those speakers produced a surprising clear and detailed sound.  Not only that, you have plenty of upgrade options in the future.  For example, you may eventually want to get some larger speakers up front, so get a pair of something like the SF-1 and use the rest of the Quintets for the surrounds.  Suppose you want to get a bigger/better sub - easy to do.  Unlike with something like the Bose, you'd need to get a whole new system if you want to upgrade anything.

 As for the wiring, any decent quality cable/wire you can get at Radio Shack or similar will suffice.  No need to spend huge dollars on that overpriced Monster cable or such.  For speaker wire, I'd recommend just getting some decent 14ga wire.

I think you did good here and this setup should provide you years of enjoyment (unless you get struck with the upgrade bug - believe me, it happens ).
