    klf 30's

hi all. i own a pair of klf 30's, upgraded the whole system, bought jm labs 918 speakers to replace the klipsches due to my room bein too small for the klf's. my question is: how do the klf's sound compared to the new cornwalls? i liked the musicality of the jm's, but miss the crunch and sound of the klfs. can you fully enjoy the cornwalls in a smaller room? is there another klipsch speaker that would fit the bill. thanks for your time and responses, gil.

I had KLF-30's and now have Cornwall I's. Space was not a problem. I like the sound of the Cornwall's better. Better imaging, wider soundstage, perhaps more slam. The KLF-30's seemed tame compared to the Cornwall's.

Hi and welcome to the forum! My opinion is if you feel your room is too small for KLF-30's, it would certainly be too small for Cornwalls. You may want to look into some Heresy III's or even some of the new Reference series such as the RF-83's. Cornwalls would be a big step up but they do need some room to get the full benefit of their great sound. Good luck in your quest!

I bought some KLF-30's many years after owning my Cornwall's so I never did a direct comparison.  However, I bought them hoping to get the Cornwall/LaScalla (which I also owned) magic and was disappointed.  Not close IMO.

What is the size of the room you will be putting the new speakers in?  This could help us give you a little more input in your decision making process.

Are you considering new or used speakers?

One of the benefits of owning Klipsch....they are extremely efficient speakers at lower listening levels, which you probably already know.

Some consider the footprint of the Cornwalls to be "large".  I personally do not think they intrude into the room, especially in a wood finish such as cherry or walnut.  IMO the Cornwall IIIs are a step above the Is and IIs, but of course I am partial to our Cornwall IIIs which we won at the 2006 Klipsch Pilgrimage in Hope, Arkansas.

If you are considering a new purchase, depending on the size of the room I would seriously consider the Cornwall IIIs.  If the room is not large enough to accomodate the Cornwall IIIs I would surely consider the Heresy IIIs.  IMO the HIIIs could easily be considered the Cornwall IIIs "little brother".

BTW, welcome to the forum and good luck.
