Jim describes the Palladium as a "three and a half way" speaker.

This is the first time I've heard a speaker described like this.

He used that term because most folks do not know the term "tapered aray"

Most of our center ch. speakers use this.

When you have more than one woofer, they start "fighting each other" at some freq.

by rolling one of the woofers off more early than the others, the "fight" is reduced.

I think Jim should have said "goes for around" or "suggested retail" something to that effect...... The educated consumer and so like myself know that no one really pays retail of certain speakers.... I think by saying "it costs" scares many consumers who are used to big box retailers and their no discount approach except on sales weeks, that consumers that have a certain price point might disregard klipsch because it is too expensive price tag wise but not so when they could negotiate the price.

    Hummm.

So Bubba, would this "tapered aray" concept apply to, and be advantagous for a reflex speaker sporting two woofers in two channel application? Must assume that the taper is achieved in the network. If so, can you do this with a passive Xover, or need active filters?

    Interesting stuff.
