• Re: Cheap Tube Amps ?
I've been eyeing these amps, mainly because a fellow Klipsch owner and forum member has at least one and said he was very impressed by them: http://cgi.ebay.com/YAQIN-VK-2100-Integrated-Valve-Tube-Power-Amplifier-amp_W0QQitemZ270484561553QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3efa22de91 Waste of money or??
Probably a waste of money, because if you buy it and if you like it you'll upgrade to a better tube amp down the road. If you don't
Fast going the way of DVD I just removed my cdp from my system. Just plug in my iPhone for most stuff. I can't hear the difference, so it works for me.
Well, I am not that familar with the format of the iPhone, but if it is MP3 and you cannot hear a difference, you are either deaf or your system cannot produce the high and low freqs. that the MP3 fomat compresses. I have downloaded MP3 music to my system, and it turns it into a massive 'cheap transistor

Tonight I was listening to my 45 Amps and I grabbed a hold of the tube bases and had no trouble holding my fingers on the tube base where the epoxy would be applied.
Really... how hot can a 45 get? I bet some 6550s would be smokin'.
If you touch the Tops of my 45 tubes, they are also are 'smokin hot'. They actually feel as hot as my 6550s - At the top. Kind of like a Match. Hot at one end and cool at the

Another thing I thought I would mention as far as heat on the Tube. - Tonight I was listening to my 45 Amps and I grabbed a hold of the tube bases and had no trouble holding my fingers on the tube base where the epoxy would be applied. I am guessing that the Temp was around 120 degrees F. This was after the amps were powered up for about 5 hours. Most of the heat on a Tube is on the very top of the Glass Envelope. This is extremely hot to the touch. But where you would epoxy the Base to the glass
I would love to hear your system if I ever get to Minnesota. I should be up that way next summer. Love to hear your Moondogs, too, since I think they are pretty awesome amps. Bruce
Well, you are certainly invited! - Just send me a PM before and I'll SET somthing up. I have Welborne StarChief 45 amps (My favorite), 2A3 Moondogs and 300B Laurels.

  • Re: Question about Heritage speakers particularly Cornwalls.
I currently own a pair of Totem Hawk floorstanders and am about to move into a larger house.
Does the larger house have some corners in the listening room? - If so, I would recommend you go for a pair of Klipschorns. This will save you the trouble of upgrading down the road.

Yup, look for good corners along a long wall. You'll kick yourself later if you don't
