The rule of thumb is to stay within 5% of the design spec. There are several brands with 2.0 uf caps, and as you mention paralelling is fine too. You can avoid tolerances altogether if you ask for matched sets of caps. Some suppliers will measure and match caps for customers.

I had always been a true blue 3-way guy until I got a hold of the TAD 4002 drivers. They make all the difference in a system. Now, I see absolutely no reason to have a 3-way system. I use an RTA room measurement system and the TADs are capable of playing flat to above 19K. In fact, I have them EQ'd down because they were too hot up top. This is some really good info. You have tried lots of different combinations. This is quite helpful info.
