  • Re: This story sounds fishy

My neighbor has had 3 cell phone wrecks. I'm scared stiff of the guy whenever I see him driving on the road. I'm a runner and a cell phone is my worst nighmare.

  • Re: Capacitor Value Matching

The rule of thumb is to stay within 5% of the design spec. There are several brands with 2.0 uf caps, and as you mention paralelling is fine too. You can avoid tolerances altogether if you ask for matched sets of caps. Some suppliers will measure and match caps for customers.

Very nice job on that Bob Latino VTA. You will surely enjoy that for many years to come. I have the same 60 wpc amp but mine was built built and wired by Bob himself. I got the auricap coupling cap upgrade and the power supply cap upgrade. It has been an excellent sounding and completely trouble free amp since the day I got it. Right now I am running 3 NOS Mullard driver tubes and Valve Art KT-88s, with a Sovtech rectifier tube. Very detailed, smooth, warm and extremely clean.....and man has the

  • Re: jc's tractrix bass bin

I had the pleasure of hearing one channel of that setup without a sub and with Gotover's horn on it instead of the MCM HF section. I thought it looked and sounded professional. Very impressive. I'm hoping to hear this latest version sometime soon. I can only imagine how this sounds. JWC never does anything half way.

Greg, no wonder you don't like equalizers. I didn't know you were using Behringer products......and digital to boot.

  • Re: MCM Jube's or K Horns

I can understand not wanting to use an EQ or incorporating a design that requires one. No issue there. I always used EQs with my Heritage speakers since I was a kid to help poor recordings, boost top end, etc. So it has been natural for me to still use one (but analog only for me right now). The funny thing is that growing up in the 70s all my friends had EQs in their systems with their Heritage speakers as well. It seemed to be a going thing way back then and I just always stuck with it. Another

  • Re: MCM Jube's or K Horns

I had always been a true blue 3-way guy until I got a hold of the TAD 4002 drivers. They make all the difference in a system. Now, I see absolutely no reason to have a 3-way system. I use an RTA room measurement system and the TADs are capable of playing flat to above 19K. In fact, I have them EQ'd down because they were too hot up top. I A/B test with my lascalas and there is nothing lost in the 2-way with the TADs. It sounds better. I had a pair of K69s on the same 402 horns I have the TADs

  • Re: MCM Jube's or K Horns

This is some really good info. You have tried lots of different combinations. This is quite helpful info. Just to add a couple of comments, I found I liked steeper slopes in passives and gentler slopes in actives like the EV DX38 where there was time alignment. Gentler slopes in passives sounded harsh at loud volumes due to mis-alignment. Fundamental Klipsch issue. I was involved in a test scenario where we varied the crossover frequency between the bass bin and HF horn in a 2-way system. This was

  • Re: LCD TV

You could be right about the Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Don't have any of that. But I do have a Sony Bravia XBR4 in my Kitchen bar and again I can't tell the difference on update rates on that TV either watching anything Dish network delivers to our house.
