PS. I just bought the Scott 299 B Integrated Tube Amp from the Garage Sale Forum. See??????? Here I go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROFLMAO, over here.....but wait.....your wife is gonna hate me! Man, the 299B has quite a group of tubes; therefore, you can use it on the RF-5s during the winter months. It will help to heat your living room! Send the numbers of all the tubes. I know a guy that has a bunch of miscellaneous tubes, many NOS, that he is letting go really cheap

I will not click my fingers 3 times to un-spell ya (like that?) until I see tubes heading your way. That should do it!! I wish I knew how load one of those crazy hypnotic circles that go round and round right now. Help me out here Jacksonbart! I liked the way you "shed some light" on that speaker thread. Funny stuff there.
I personally think the Heresy is more musical than the my RF-7s; I think because of the separate horn for the mids and the highs. The Heresy is also an easier load on my low-powered SET amp, which is the most musical of all the amps I have. I'll let the experts answer your other questions regarding design, etc. Rick

I heard about this from a DJ on Deep Tracks the other day and he mentioned price of $330. Guess that is suggested retail so I assume the Amazon price is a pretty good bargain. Not bad when you get both MP3 and FLAC versions and some accompanying videos, etc. I already know I am probably getting the re-mastered albums for XMAS; now she has an option between this and the box set....win, win for me Isn't it something how everyone wants the Beatles now? I guess the main driver is the video game?
I agree with Cut, but let me add a wrinkle: I believe it's the SIZE OF THE BASS HORN MOUTH that makes the difference -- but IN THE MIDRANGE. The Belle and LaS have much smaller bass horn exits, plus they they don't have the supposed 8X multiplier effect on horn mouth size of being solidly in a corner and on the floor. One must recognize that the 400 and 500 Hz crossover points in all three speakers are WELL up into the midrange. 400 Hz is almost as high as
Hey Rick, thanks for the invite, but I'm located about 20min. north of San Antonio, and about 180 miles west of Houston. I'm in the structural engineering business, but I've turned quite a few wrenches on mustangs, including a 66 GT350, and 68 GT500KR (my all time favorite mustang), but mostly early to mid 80's fox chasis.
Oops....well, there is a community in West Houston called Spring Branch; I didn't realize there is a real city. So

I used dbPoweramp to rip my collection to .flac format. You can use its features to convert those files to other formats as well. Here is a link to the Pro version. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
I second this opinion. I too use dbpoweramp for ripping it's damm good software...... and to play the files, I use Foobar 2000 .
Hey Gilbert - just now noticed your profile update. Welcome to Houston! Let's see
Along with looking at the watts, you need to make sure the tube amp can handle the RF-7's 2.8 Ohm impedance dip. If your amp's not stout, it'll holler "Momma".
That's a great point. I have tried my new (to me) RF-7s with my flea-powered 2A3 amps, and the magic is just not there. My EL84 Stromberg-Carlson does better but the best match I have for the big Reference is the vintage Mac MC250 SS. The RF-7s, even at 102 dB efficient,
