• Re: Internal speaker wiring

Parts Express has all kinds of colors and sizes . There's also Newark or Digi-Key or Mouser Enough selection to make your head spin.
The 902/trachorn combo is a match made in heaven - at least to my ears. So much so that my 902s/Trachorns are back up front with the big boys, and the two-inch throats are now in the rear. Gee, what a rough life.......... Carl.
I agree Carl, I really miss my trachorn/902's. I couldn't get the GPA drivers to reach low enough to mate well with the LaScala bottom - there was always a hole in the sound. I'd like to build a set of two-way CornTracs
Why 4500? Would these be better for Belles?
The 4500 x-over point won't work with the stock k77 tweets. The 4.5k was designed for any aftermarket tweets capable of that depth. The Crites ct125's happen to work well for this application.

  • Re: Is there something wrong with my Adcom GFA5500?

    .
"The Adcom website sates that the front end of this amp is run class A" Did they also claim it ran on electricity? I've never seen an amplifier that front end didn't run class A.
Rubber bands and hamster power.

They will most definitely corrode at some point.

  • Re: Is there something wrong with my Adcom GFA5500?

It may or may not be a problem. Does it run hotter than it did when you bought it? Is it getting proper ventilation? The Adcom website sates that the front end of this amp is run class A (hot) - didn't specify the output stage operation, but it may be A/AB, maybe not. A lot of people also overlook blowing the dust out of thier equipment - it's amazing what can accumulate. Maybe the output devices need to be re-biased.

  • Re: What to do on this fine holiday......

I have yet to see a fiberglass pool in the NEast. Hot tub, sure, but not pool. Is that just a south thing?

  • Re: ALK Trachorn upgrade complete

I can't say that I've seen an open horn mounted within a grill before - I think you may have started a new trend. Looks great! IMO, horns need to be shown off.

  • Re: Replacing 15" Drivers in my LaScala's
Thanks guys for all the great info. My main concern was to get some thumping bass and kill some of the high tones within this speaker without having to resort to buying a sub to do it.
Although they don't reach that low, the LaScala bass will certainly thump. It sounds to me like you're unhappy with the tonal balance of your LaScalas, in that they're tipped to the high end. This problem can be solved by attenuating the mids and tweets via the crossover
