• Bass Bin options ... Cornscala/MWM/K-HORN

Hey all ... been kicking around what to do next for my audio fun. I already have in my possession a pair of 511B's with K55v's and a pair of APT 200's. They have been playing as the tops with my La Scala bass bins using AA crossovers. I recently reassembled my split La Scalas into their original configuration, so the 511/APT combo is looking for a new task. I am looking at three options ... all of which will require a new crossover ... so I can build which ever ends up being needed Option
Big bass with the Cornscala dbb. Foot print just a bit larger than a Khorn. tc
I took a good look at that option .... I ruled it out for now .... 2 x the drivers and 2 x the crossovers = 2 x the cost of my current three ideas. Maybe a project for the future. Hey .... Can a MWM bin be mounted vertically in a 15x20 room with no ill effects??? pushed back into the corners .... that would move it up my list

Wow ... nice find ... the natural wood LSI's ... while not totally rare ... are pretty hard to come by ... where did you find them. Don't worry too much about the scratches ... just run them for awhile .... maybe rehab the crossovers. What are you gonna run them with?? Welcome to the madness.
............If you're not using the two main inputs, you can use those for you iPod and gain some measure of tone control also!.......
I occasionally run it through the main channels, but for the most part .... the less knobs to adjust the better .... mostly working on motorbikes so my hands are often greasy ... thats why I keep tape on the two knobs I need to touch.

  • Re: I got my Lascalas ... promptly took the to the desert to test them.

Well ... there have been updates and additions ... but in the form of Twins .... a boy and a girl. Desert trips are on hold until they are a bit older. Next addition is a 1000w inverter running off a 225ah deep cycle .... my math says it'll run my Macrotech 600 for about 7 hours ... probably test it this winter ... temps have been over 100deg for the last three months ... been a real hot summer.

Digital Photogaphy has changed the "photographic Industry" in a direction that does not agree with me. I don't really need to comment more on it ... much better to have a discussion over a beer and hash these
