Mmm... I can't wait to get some of that secret sauce flowing through my ears.
What exactly makes the Custom-3 sound better than the IMAGE?
I just felt like updating this thread because Professor Thump recently posted at the Head-Fi forums with a somewhat clearer statement in distinguishing the sonic qualities of the two high-end models (bolded), along with further insight to those concerned with comfort.
Klipsch is a new company for headphones as you know but we have 60 years of audio heritage

The small ring idea reminds me of what EarPeace did with their LiveWires custom IEMs. Notice the little red block on the cable signifying the right channel: Source

I forget if this has already been addressed or not, but are the armatures used in the Custom-3 actually made by Klipsch or are they made by a third-party (such as Sonion, Knowles, etc.)? EDIT: It seems that the Custom-2 utilizes a dual-driver (KG534) manufactured by Sonion. Am I right to assume that Sonion also makes the KG723 and the KG732 drivers? Are these specially designed exclusively for Klipsch or rebrands of existing Sonion balanced armatures?
We have a very limited number of Custom-3s en route to our distribution center ( very limited, unfortunately). I believe they are already spoken for, and I'm awaiting an update to determine when more will be on the way. These tiny things are hard to build! Thanks to all for your continued patience...
Any possibility of a pre-order with accompanying discounts?
The Custom 3's are now in production so it is just an issue of shipping and distribution logistics. I would hope next week but I am only guessing. I would have to check our logistics group to see the ETA. I will post this info when I know.
Anything new to report since this post?

I haven't tried them, but I did watch the instructional video and can see now that it is not as bad as I thought. I'm still possibly waiting on Klipsch Custom-3's since I value sound quality the most.

Bah. I'm trying to prevent myself from visiting this forum too often so that the wait won't seem so long. I keep checking back everyday for updates.

Nice! I'm glad that they finally worked out for you.

Excellent, the Klipsch Custom-3 "placeholder" is up at Amazon.com. Let's hope their 4-5 week estimated availability (which seems reasonable enough) stands true! Source
