• Re: CDs, when will they be obsolete?
In reality of course CD's are already obsolete but, as was the case with vinyl, they will never truely disappear altogether.
!00% true, for mass marketed music. Vinyl, reel to reel, cassettes, CD, SACD, DVD-A etc. will always be available for a niche market no matter what else replaces them. These days you should be able to get anything into a home computer and burn a CD or whatever with the right program(s). More choices than ever

  • Re: Internal speaker wiring

Whether the wires are tinned or not will make no difference in performance for the short lengths used between the xover and drivers in a loudspeaker enclosure. The tinning will increase corrosion resistance and corrosion will affect wire performance, The tinned wires will be easier to solder and will make a better soldered joint. Any good 60/40 (Kester, Ersin) rosin core solder will be fine, no need for silver solder here. Twisting the wires will increase capacitance but not enough to matter with

  • Re: Toeing in or flat on

Congratulations on getting the Lascalas. When I had mine I found that I got the best results by aiming the speakers directly at the listening position. I also put a thin piece of wood under the front of the speaker so that it was tilted up and aimed directly at my ears. Happy listening!

  • Re: Khorn bass bin, 1/2" or 3/4" ??

3/4" on the front and sides, 1/2" for the other pieces. That way it will not be necessary to redo the plans except to make the front 5/8" wider than stock. Consider 1" MDF for the front and 3/4" MDF for the sides. I am not a big fan of MDF but it may be better than plywood in those spots. Consider using braces ala the Speakerlab copy between the woofer chamber and the ramps on the top and bottom of the enclosure. Consider eliminating the motorboard and mounting the driver

  • Re: paradigm vs klipsch REF 3

I cannot compare the Paradigm to the Klipsch Reference as I have not heard the Klipsch you mentioned, but I did hear the Paradigms a few months ago and was not impressed at all. Comparable to the Bose 901, they were that bad.

  • Re: How bout dem Saints?!

The Saints kept shooting themselves in the foot but won anyway. The injuries are piling up with defensive starters Sharper, Ellis, Greer, and now Porter out. They better get healthy before the Mon. night game on the 30th with New England or their undefeated record will not stand.

  • Re: 8ohm v 4ohm yet again
Has anyone ever looked at what a tub amp does? 2 words, Odd Harmonics
This is true, as far as it goes, but let's go a bit further. The presence of odd harmonics is more the result of the class AB push-pull circuitry used in the output stages of tube amplifiers, which supresses the even harmonic distortion, thus leaving the odd harmonics. This is the probably the reason for the popularity of the SET class A triode amps, which usually have even order
