• Image X5 driver protection

Greetings, all! I'm looking to upgrade to a new pair of headphones. Right now I'm torn between the Image X5 and the Future Sonics Atrio. Both look like very promising pairs, and at this point in time I'm liking the Images more. What I've read in reviews would make it seem as though the Atrios would have better sound, but the Images, by my understanding, top the Atrios in a few crucial fields that'd make sacrificing a little sound quality OK (fit, comfort, build quality, size,

  • How is a tweeter put in a midrange driver?

Hi guys. I know this is a Klipsch board and all, but I don't know any other hifi message boards. Anyway, I'm curious as to how a tweeter inside a midrange driver works. I know various speakers have done it (I've seen it on a pair of Insignias at Best Buy and I think Thiel does it in one of their pairs), but I can't find anything on how such a thing could work. Thanks in advance.

  • Re: Need a good sub for the computer
I have a pair ofAlesis Monitor Ones and an 8 inch Velodyne sub on my PC. The sub was given to me by my brother in law when he decided he didn't need it. I had looked at a Blue Sky MediaDesk 2.1 system, but they are $700. Pretty far out of my range. The Pro Medias are an excellent value for sure. Bruce
Is it a good sub? Care to share the model/price for a new one? Right now I'm really liking the Polk PSW10, since it'll be great for my room size

  • Need a good sub for the computer

Hey everyone. To make a long story short, I can't find a pair of Promedia 2.1s anywhere. Best Buy stopped carrying them, they've been out of stock on the Klipsch site for a while, and every online store I can find either doesn't sell them anymore, or is out of stock. I'm starting to think they've been discontinued. Anyway, I really need a new pair of speakers as soon as I can get them. My old Logitech set died (they weren't that good anyway) and I'm stuck using some old

  • Re: Is ProMedia 2.1 Discontinued?

I'm noticing the same thing. I really hope they'll be back in stock on the website soon, because today I went to Best Buy and they have apparently stopped carrying them, as they couldn't find them in their computers and they have disappeared from the store. They also aren't on the Best Buy site. Amy Unger: Any idea when they'll be in? My old Logitech set died and I can't listen to these Harmon/Kardons any longer!

  • Compatible with other satellites?

Hey guys. I don't have my Promedias yet, but I know from a friend who does that they use speaker clips to hook up the satellites. Because of that, could I plug in other speakers (such as some of the smaller Klipsch bookshelves) and get satisfactory results? Or was this system made only to work with it's satellites? Thanks in advance.

  • What does a preamp do?

I hear everywhere about them improving sound quality, but what exactly do they do?

  • Re: Reference vs. Synergy, what's the difference?

Actually, a Buttkicker is a bass shaker. It plugs in like a regular sub and translates the nondirectional sounds into vibrations (well technically it should be "more vibrations"). I plan to get one as well as a sub. I wouldn't get two subs, I've had enough experience with subs to know that one will be enough, especially for this room. So, how could I plug two "subs" (being the actual sub and the buttkicker) into it without sacrificing performance? Or would that just not

If I was after look rather than sound, I'd still be looking at Bose stuff. So what is the purpose of a preamp though? Does it just apply more power to the channels you run through it? If not, what does it do to add to the quality? Edit: And to ask another question, I read in a review that Heresies sound best with tube amps. What are those, and should I consider one if I get Heresys?
