I noticed in the black Friday ad Best Buy ad that they are selling the Harmony 510 remote for $39.99. If you're looking for a cheap universal remote this might be what you're looking for. All Harmony remotes all do the same thing, just how many bells and whistles you want.

If they were closer I'd buy them. Great speakers. Don't know if I really need another pair but I'd be tempted anyway!

[quote user="Hifi jim"]Thanks for the thorough response AnalogWave! I've read elsewhere about the FF and REV acting choppy, but that is a non-issue for me. Sad to hear the tray response has slowed, but maybe a future update will speed it up again... we can hope anyway. I'll probably hold off on this purchase because my Samsung is just fine for the very few times I use it (for BluRay only). But when I eventually have room for a dedicated HT, I'll be looking to Oppo to consolidate

I'm glad I found this thread because this issue has been plagueing my thoughts lateley. What am I missing using my BD player as a CD player. I'd assume since its all digital it shouldn't matter but then why do people buy the crazy expensive CD only units? I've got a Samsung BD-P1600 that I use for blu ray, dvd, cd, Pandora and Netflix. I'm not sure what I think of the DVD playback quality. I put my old Yamaha DV-S6160 back in my rack to try and compare dvd upscaling. It always

[quote user="Youthman"]I think for me, the journey of putting together a system is just as fun as it is having the final product. Sure, it would be nice to walk into a dealer, drop down some serious cash and order your dream system. A few weeks later, it arrives via UPS (hopefully all in one piece) and you set it all up, and sit back and enjoy. While that might be the way to go for some, to me, I would rather peruse Craigslist, Audiogon, Klipsch Garage Sale etc and look for those great

I'm tempted. I don't know how much I'll gain over my Yamaha 663 in the end. I'm sure a true pre/pro will be better but how much better? I might wait until the next new batch of surround sound codecs are relased and my 663 is out dated and then get the Emo pre/pro that is out at that time.

Do you need both IR (infrared) and RF (radio frequency)? If so then the 890 is the better choice for you. I don't need RF and owned an 880 which has the same basic shape and keys has the 890 and I now own a Harmony One. I personally like the key placement much better on the One than the 880. I think $150 is a great price. I paid $199 in December or January I think and most places were selling them for $250 then. I do kind of miss the buttons next to the icons on the screen instead of the touch

I'm sold on Harmony remotes. I think the customer service is excellent and the product i stop notch. Before you chose a particular remote I'd suggest going to a Best Buy or the like and hold them in your hand to find the one you like the best.
