that's what my dealer tells me. it's a great sub though!

I actually thought about doing home automation installations as a side business, but to be honest, engineering salaries in nuclear power are too high to justify the time off and I travel off and on too :( I know I love programming and setting up neat electroics a lot more than real work though. If you ever do want to try something like Premise, I'd be willing to help with some of the software setup if you ran all the wires. The RT-12d does start to rock back and forth on each leg at very high

I'm hoping I can control my sub with home automation software on a PC. I've been playing with neat free softare found here (for the last few months): http://www.cocoontech.com/wiki/Premise It is very easy to learn for an engineer like yourself so please try it out and help grow the community ;) Now, what I plan to do if I can get the protocol is easily explained through an example: 1. I have an Onkyo AV receiver with an rs232 port. It was very easy to use Premise to create a two way driver

PS: what did you think about the RT-12d? I really like it for music and movies. I was going to build my own sub and use RoomEQ to calibrate it, but I travel too much. I wonder how the Klipsch software will compare to RoomEQ.

If you can get a good deal on one, I would try the RT-12d (now discontinued). I'm not sure about your price range, but if you find the right dealer closing it out, it runs $1200-$1600 (mine was $1400 as a display, but I got it in a package deal with sealed RS-62s thrown in for half off msrp!); with the recession on going, smaller dealers are hurting and willing to deal if you have cash. A smaller dealer may have also bought their stock before the price increase of the reference series, so they

Here is your solution: find an online CCF code extractor that can translate files with the .CCF extension to get the CCF code (in hexidecimal). Download the phillips pronto subwoofer zip file from klipsch.com with the codes. Extract the CCF file from the zip file. Extract the CCF codes using the tool downloaded. Email logitech support the extracted CCF codes and they should be able to add the commands to your online profile. Alternatively, if you have a pronto remote, you could load the CCF onto

If you were willing to sell the RT-12d, how much would you be asking? ;) I really like mine. I understand people's tastes are different, but the RT-12d blows away any sub I've heard in person at the big chain stores and even most audiophile shops in my area. If you don't like the RT-12d, I would not buy another sub unless it is local and you can try it out in your home. I live near Chicago and like I said, the RT-12d was the best sub I could find within a reasonable driving distance.

I was wondering if anyone working at Klipsch could tell me more about the USB control option for the RT12d. I tried tech suport, but I couldn't learn much. What I'd be interested in is the technical documentation on the USB port when used for control so that I can integrate it into a home automation system. The manual says this is possible, but when I called tech support the person said this was not a supported/implemented feature. If it is implemented, but not supported, I'm fine with

I just scored one of these subs at a great price from a local authorized dealer! Anyone know what the cost of the optional calibration software is? I would be using it for personal use only, so I'm hoping it would be priced really low. If a Klipsch employee is reading this, I'm an electrical engineer and would love to give this software a try... I'm also interested in the usb command protocol for home automation, I didn't see this posted under the products information. I did see the

I guess if you didn't like the RF-63's, you wouldn't like my RF-83's Set up on speakers does matter though, so that could be to blame. If you look at the lab data for the RF-83's at sound & vision magazine, you'll see they have a pretty flat response (for speakers in their price range), but I can't speak for the RF-63's. I do keep my RF-83's 3 feet from the wall in either direction, and maintain less than 11 foot listening distance (with speakers about 8'
