• Re: Set all speakers to "Small" when using Cornwalls?
...Ok, makes sense. I'm not familiar with the Denon setup. When you set it up for LFE+Mains, can you set the crossover frequency?
I believe it uses what is setup in the bass mgmt section but I don't know for sure....

  • Re: Has anyone "upgraded" to a 7.1 or 9.1 DSX Klipsch Home Theater yet?

The guy at Sound and Vision auditioned the Denon AVR 4810ci and tried both 9.1 and 11.1 setups: http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/newproducts/3250/first-listen-audyssey-dsx.html
..Double check the system operation because your sub should come on when you set your mains to small, even if you are only listening to 2 channel.
Fwiw, in the Denon there is a separate 2 Channel setup where to get the subwoofer to come on you must have it configured "LFE +Mains." NOTE: This is separate from the Multichannel Configuration, where you would still run "LFE" only.
I just ran the Audyssey again on my Denon 3808. This time I set it for LEF and not LEF + MAIN. It setup my mains and center for large and a cross over of 40hz for main and center 60hz for the sides and 90hz for the rear. Both the sides and rears are Heresy's but the sides are on a wall and the backs are on a railing so open on the back. The sub never coms on with out 5.1 so I may rerun it for LFE + Main and see what happens. It sounds good but want to see what

  • Re: front ported RB speakers

If you are lucky enough to find a pair of the RB-75s that would be the way to go. They were voice matched to the RF-7s and were made to keep up, if that tells you something. We use them as mains in our Bedroom (way OVERKILL for the BR) and Rear Surrounds in the setup listed below.
Audessy on my Denon3808 sets my Cornwalls to small. Plus I run it LFE + main.
Fwiw, Audyssey does not recommend the "LFE + main" setting: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=17176579&highlight=lfe+main#post17176579
The benefits of distributed bass from multiple sources are well established in the literature. But, AVRs are not really set up to allow this through the Double Bass (or LFE+Main) modes

  • Re: Anyone interested in Maple RC -7
...Another question, will a denon 899 be good enough to drive the speakers?
I don't think a bottom of the line AVR is going to do those front 3 speakers justice....Because of the impedance dips of the RF-7s, I would look at adding separate amplification (which I /don't think you can do with the Denon AVR 890) to a mid level AVR or find a THX Ultra II certified AVR so you will have enough current to have more headroom and enjoy stuff at louder SPLs
