Neo, you need to get in touch with Mark. He would help you figure out any issues going on withthe BB. I had a BBX for a while, and it was a wonderful preamp. I finally decided I didn't need the phono section, and went back to using the Merlin. The BB is sensitive to the 6922 tubes. I had noisy NOS ones, and at Mark's recommendation, purchased some EH6922s. They are cheap, and for me sounded fine. The long turn on delay didn't usually bother me, once I knew it was so long.
I'd be interested in your opinion on the Messiah I referenced (not the one we discuss in the OTHER forum ) as it is superior, IMHO, to any vinyl version I own...
You are a trouble maker...lol.
It is also worth remembering that most of the vinyl produced over its lifetime as the primary source for recorded music was complete crap. That stuff, however, has probably almost entirely made its way into land fills and the like leaving

I have my LS pointing to an area slightly behind me. It makes the 'sweet spot" slightly wider. You will just have to experiment with them to get what sound best to you. LS IIs across the sea, awesome! Bruce

Since I don't need the phono pre, I will admit to liking the Merlin a lot better. The BB is VERY tube sensitive. Mine (second owner) came with a couple of very microphonic tubes. The ones I swapped in were worse, so I put in some new EH. I was happy with them, but as I said, I ultimately sold the BB to another forum member. He sent it to Mark for some work. Bruce
Call me a luddite
Ok, you're a Luddite! I like media I can hold in my hands, too. I like real libraries... I don't mind holding dead trees in my hands. Man, I need to visit Macon. My longtime best friend may retire there with his family, and I may be up for a move further south. Bruce
Bruce, That would be fine with me. I can't even find my copy. Darrell
I can send a copy back if you want... It's a great resource. Bruce
When I brought mine home, I thought I could bring them inside by myself. HA!
I brought mine in by myself. I placed some particle board (smooth) and slid them in on a blanket. I couldn't wait. Once in the house I just did them end over end to get them where I wanted them. Bruce
