so my promedia 5.1 ultras have been having trouble.. again... about a year ago I had to send it in for guess what?, amp failure. And now its been showing signs of heading down the same path. It started not playing anything out of the speakers about a month ago but just for a day, then it has been back...

Has anyone had any experience with replacing the sub amp panel that comes with the ProMedia 5.1 THX with a new Sub Amp panel such as the type from PartsExpress.com? If so where did you order yours? i had this set two years ago. I recently experience the problem: Sometimes, it just works fine for all 5 pieces, sound is nice. but most of the time (recently i experience more and more), esp after i restarted the computer, the subwoofer works but the rest 4 have no sound, and experiencing some "hissing"...

Several months ago I woke up one morning to no subwoofer volume even though I had clear, full volume sound from all 5 of my satellites. After shutting the power off to the amp for approx 10 min it worked again with no issues until the next day when it had the same problem. This continued to get worse...

Unfortunately I'm not that electrically inclined. More along the lines of the basics like soldering, etc. hehe. Never hurts to hope for someone who has had a similar experience and some luck fixing it but I definitely understand that there is a lot more involved with this issue and, like you said...

I just want to say thanks and I appreciate the great info. Replacing the chips worked. But I couldn't get that part number. I used NTE-2395 which only cost $11.15 for two. Thanks again. My Promedia 5.1 is working again. Brian
