    I go from HDMI to s-video through a cable that came with my video card. Honestly, I don't know if it helps you, but the transducer to go from HDMI to component output exists.I too have a game console, but I guess I believe in the power of piping, streaming and the old fashioned magic of the hardware...

    I use Vista Ultimae 64 Bit becasue I have an AMD X2, dual core 64 Bit machine, and I got VU-64 for $80 from an OEM software vendor. WMP isn't the greatest. I really like the TV stuff that comes with WMC, sets up for remotes and everything. I use the SRS Audio Sandbox 64 bot tp supplment the lame...

    I purchased an blu-ray burner from newegg.com. works great under ubuntu, I'm going to order another one for my one Vista box which has AnyDVD, CloneDVD amd ImTOO Platinum on it. Now I just have to replace the Sony Wege I've been using for years, but I have this thing for classics that work well...

    I have tried two alternatives. I now have a Linux server which can stream to any client through VLC. I also take the brute force approach and broadcast SMB shares from the Linux machine, so the Vista machines can mount the shares.
