• Palladium with Single Ended Triodes (50 watts)

Hi, Somewhere I read that the Klipsch line because of the sensitivity (99db,Palladium) is well suited to tube amplifiers. Most of the tube amplifiers that I see are in the 20-100 watt range... I'm looking at a Manley Labs 300B Pre Amp with a Cary 805 AE.... The Cary 805 AE is rated at 50 watts into...

  • Heathkit AA-61 and LaScala

For years I have been seeking the sound that I heard many years ago. I had a pair of Stephens TruSonic 15" coaxial drivers in some huge cabinets powered by some McIntosh MC30's. The were way too klunky, and at my ripe age of 21 I sold the amps on ebay (in 1998) for $650 and traded the speakers...

***EDITED**** reposted 10/13/2008 am, now with Firefox, on a PC (not Safari PC or Mac). Sorry, this is long and detailed for anybody that is interested. I compared 4 amps (McIntosh 2 x MC240; DIY 300B SET, and Outlaw 750 SS) and 4 speaker sets (K horns, Heresy Is and IIs, WF-34). Testing conditions:...

  • now with my new Cornwall, needing a new tube amp?

Greetings all, I have become a proud owner of a pair 1982 Cornwall (upgrading from a pair B&W 601 S3). I love my Cornwall's minimalist looking and how they sound so far --- however I believe there's room to get much better sound out of them. This is my current set-up: (1) Apple Airpot Express...

Hi (3rd try at this reply) To make a long story short, given my rig as listed below, would I likely hear a differerence between my MC240 tube amp and a SET amp? If I posted this in the wrong place, pls let me know and I will gladly move it. O/W I will happily learn from posteings, PMs, etc. :) After...

  • Re: I'm looking for someone in Texas who has a Tube amp I can listen to my speakers on.
Chris (Cask05) lives in Arlington. I'd bet he'd take care of you however, I don't know if he has tubes. I know he has some interesting stuff... I'd give him a whirl and see if you can branch out from there (presuming he can't help you)
Ahh...

  • Need an advice on a speaker cable, please!

Hi All, This is my first post here, and I need your help I run a pair of Klipschorns on a high-quality custom-made tube amp (45 triodes). I am looking for a cable to connect them (right now I have a temporary solution). I want something that fits the "warm" sounding of the system I have (not...

  • Klipsch Restoration Inquiry

Dear Friends: I am new to this forum, but I currently sport a pair of Cornwall speakers. I acquired these speakers to use with my low powered SET amplifiers that I personally sell. While the Cornwall speakers work wonderfully well with my equipment, I came across an idea that I thought made perfectly...

  • Rf-7 questions...

I have a set of Rf-7s hooked up to a Denon 3806, some surround Sony speakers and a huge Velodyne sub. I'd like to get more out of my Rf-7s and am considering buying a tube amp. And I have a couple of questions: 1. Is a tube amp better than my Denon 3806? I listen to a wide range of music (electronic...

  • Re: regarding jolida tube amps....

It's age, some things get dusty and get a little funky, the controls on my mom's old Macintosh equipment make noise because of dust in the potentiometers. Once you get buy it, all still sounds good.
