I posted on this a few months ago... Thanks to the good folks on this board, I found the DeOxit solution. After removing the 10 screws (at least 2 too many) the rest was simple and the full volume control, crackle-free sound, and quality audio was restored -- for a while. After about a month left on...

I have had the v.2 400 series speakers for nearly 9 years now. I remember having to get the controller replaced because it was buzzing and the volume adjustment created static (this was around 2002). Promedia 5.1 busted... pls help.

All of a sudden they went out with a funny noise. Now I can turn them on and off, the numbers on the volume move but I only get a whistle out of them which doesn't get louder or lower with volume settings... the high pitch whistle also seems to pulsate and if I wait several seconds there is a different...

I had a similar experience with my ProMedia Ultra 2.0 Computer Speakers, which I purchased at an Apple store in May. They were brilliant for about four months of low usage, and I never played them loudly. Then I began experiencing popping, crackling, unsteady volume levels, and alternating speaker failure...

Promedia v2-400 rear right speaker isn't working

Does anyone know if a speaker for the v2-400 can be replaced and where to find a new one? If not can it be fixed easily? The right rear speaker has fallen off the stand one too many times and is no longer working. I know that it is something with the speaker and hesitate to open it.

Crackling / Popping - Promedia 5.1 Ultra

So I had bought some 3 year old Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultras on eBay maybe 2 years and, god, they are great speakers. Now I am saddened because they are getting a bit of crackling on the high points of songs where there is a lot of bass. Also it seems to happen with lo quality sounds, like some loud noises...
